Why it matters
In Queensland, the occupier of a building must have its prescribed fire safety installations — fire detection and alarm systems among them — maintained by an appropriately qualified person, at the intervals set by the Queensland Development Code (MP 6.1). That code calls up AS 1851.
A missed routine or an unresolved fault can leave you with an alarm that won't raise the alarm, and records that won't stand up at audit. Regular servicing catches both.

FAQ
Fire Detection & Alarms: common questions
Can't see your question? Call 07 3916 4344 and talk to the team.
How often does a fire alarm system need servicing?
AS 1851 sets routine activities for fire detection and alarm systems at monthly, six-monthly, yearly and five-yearly intervals, with different checks at each. The exact schedule depends on your system and building — we'll set it out in your service plan.
What happens if you find a fault?
We record it, explain the risk in plain language and quote the repair. If it's a critical defect that could stop the system working, you'll hear about it straight away, not in a report weeks later.
Can you install a new detection system?
Yes. We install and upgrade fire detection and alarm systems for commercial sites, and can maintain them from day one.
