Why it matters
In Queensland, workplaces using specified electrical equipment in certain classes of work must have it tested and tagged at set intervals, with tags showing the test date and the next due date.
The rules now sit in the Electrical Safety Regulation 2026, which replaced the 2013 regulation on 1 September 2026. WorkSafe Queensland says the change doesn't add new obligations — but it's a good moment to check your schedule is right for your class of work.
Queensland test and tag intervals
| Class of work | Equipment | Test interval |
|---|---|---|
| Construction | Transportable structures, fixed and transportable equipment | 6 months |
| Construction | Other equipment | 3 months |
| Manufacturing | Double insulated | 12 months |
| Manufacturing | Not double insulated | 6 months |
| Service work | Not protected by a safety switch | 12 months |
| Office work | Not protected by a safety switch | 5 years |

From first visit to filed certificate
Free onsite assessment
We walk the site, list every fire and electrical asset, and check where your records are up to.
One quote, one schedule
A single proposal covering both trades, with a service calendar built around your operations.
Service, test and tag
Technicians carry out the work to the relevant Australian Standards, with minimal disruption to your site.
Reports, ready for audits
Fire certificates and defect quotes land in your customer portal; electrical results and registers come straight to you.
How often do we need test and tag?
It depends on your class of work. WorkSafe Queensland's intervals range from three months for some construction equipment to five years for office equipment that isn't protected by a safety switch. We'll confirm which class applies to you.
What happens to items that fail?
They're tagged out of service, listed in your report and given a repair or replacement recommendation.
Will testing disrupt our staff?
Each item is unplugged only briefly while it's tested, and we plan the order of work around your operations.
